August 11 – 17
My weeknotes capture events, thoughts, and other items from the past week, often focused on work, but with personal stuff, too. Learn more about weeknotes.
I can only muster an abbreviated weeknote this week, as I’ve been working through the weekend on moving my parents into an assisted living situation 500 miles south in Tennessee. Between driving 1,000 miles roundtrip, dealing with movers, packing stuff, unpacking stuff, and doing all the tech work (yeah, that’s my lot in lifeโthe tech guy in the family), I just don’t have the time or energy to summarize the week in full.
So just to quickly capture the week:
- I delivered an ADA presentation to some of our IT customers across the county, effectively issuing a not-so-early warning for all agencies about this new responsibility. It’s not enough, of course, as we need to ensure we have the attention of leaders in all those agencies. The monthly “IT contacts” meeting doesn’t always reach them. Soooo much more to do here. But we’re trying.
- We’re getting ready for our next Recognition Program event next week. Hard to believe this is now a regular thing. We only started it a little over 18 months ago and now it’s like clockwork, thanks to our HR team taking it over. (I could never have sustained it on my own.)
- Had two different events out with parts of our exec leadership team this week, which is unusual. Although a monthly gathering might be becoming a regular thing.
- Based on feedback out of Pennsylvania to one of my colleagues, we are starting to think a little differently about how we might rearrange our teams and their talent. Lots more to think about here. I wish we had more time to work on this.
There’s other stuff going on, but as I noted, it’s kinda crazy this week. I hope to be back in the saddle next week.
